Jack begins his second year with the Alpine Academy following on from his first season in the FIA Formula 2 Championship. In 2022, he took three wins, six podiums and three pole positions. The Australian has regularly battled at the front and was competing for the best rookie title and a top three place in the final overall rankings right up to the last race of the season.
Impressive in karting in his native Australia, Jack – son of five-time MotoGP world champion Mick – made the switch to single seaters in 2018 competing in the British F4 Championship. He took three wins and twelve podiums to finish in overall fifth position and best rookie. Campaigns in the Italian F4 Championship and the ADAC F4 Championship yielded valuable experience for the young Australian. Two consecutive second places in the Formula 3 Asian Championship prepared Jack for the move to FIA Formula 3 Championship with HWA Racelab in 2020.
With Trident Racing, Jack shone, achieving four victories and seven podiums to become vice-champion. He continued to climb up the rankings joining MP Motorsport for the final two rounds of the 2021 FIA Formula 2 Championship qualifying in second place in Abu Dhabi. This was followed by a first full F2 season with Virtuosi Racing, where he finished overall sixth, achieving fantastic results, including an undisputed victory in the long race in Belgium. Jack also took part in two free practice sessions with BWT Alpine F1 Team and in tests reserved for young drivers after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Jack: “I am delighted to start my second season with Alpine Academy. We have had a great first year together and I have been welcomed with open arms by everyone and have rapidly found my feet. It was great to hang out with the Formula 1 team, during the practice sessions and on the simulator, and get to know everyone in the factory and racing team. I can’t wait to see what we can achieve this year. Our objectives remain the same, to win the title, and I am in good company to help me achieve this goal. I am going to give my all as an experienced member of the programme and I will also help recruits and the youngest members of the Academy, particularly during our training camps.”
