Alpine returns to the highest echelon of endurance racing. Over 60 years of history enters a new hybrid chapter with the unveil of the A424_β. It aims to replicate Alpine’s famous 1978 24 Hours of Le Mans victory while targeting overall honours in the hotly contested new Hypercar category of the World Endurance Championship from 2024.
Combining the knowhow of Alpine Racing and Signatech with the unique styling of the design department, A424_β will tussle with the sport’s most historic names in unmistakeable fashion.
Alpine and Endurance racing have gone hand-in-hand for 60 years, providing this new adventure with an exciting and emotional backstory. These are just some of the highlights.
Distinctive bodywork
After ten successful years together, continuing a partnership with fellow French company Oreca for the new LMDh-class Hypercar chassis was an obvious choice. Even so, balancing the demands of engineers and designers is no easy feat. “We needed to bring two very different universes together”, says Christophe Chapelain, Alpine LMDh Chief Engineer.
Striking illumination
The A424_β’s distinctive rear lighting proves the worlds of engineering and design can unite beautifully. “This is perhaps the car’s most striking element", says Raphaël Linari, Alpine Chief Exterior and Racing Designer. “We have created a signature specific to our LMDh by reinterpreting the arrowed A”. The cars behind won’t mistake who is leading the way.
Spectacular power
Alpine’s engine partner is Mecachrome, a company with vast Endurance racing experience. They have worked intimately with the Viry-Châtillon experts in the Alpine Racing team to produce a 3.4-litre V6 whose single-turbo layout is unique in the Hypercar category. Its output approaches 700 horsepower while hybrid knowhow comes from the world of Formula One™.

A striking signature look
Alpine designers worked hard to keep the brand’s DNA bubbling at the surface of A424_β, taking influence from the astonishing Alpenglow concept to achieve the silhouette of a roadgoing hypercar.
